Can You Live Out Your Dreams?

Written By: D. James Rice on January 29, 2010 3 Comments

dreams-come-true-new-eraSome of us have dreams to hit the Lotto for millions and be rich to do whatever we want to for the rest of our lives.  Some of our dreams are simply to have everything we need without having the need for anything for anything more than that.  The rest of us, most likely our dreams fall somewhere in between.

For me, I don’t want to be filthy rich or wealthy, but I would like to have the type of income where I can do most of the things I want.  I want for my kids to have the things they want as well.  I do want to be able to provide for my kids when they get older, but I also want them to work for the things they want as well.  I want my kids to be able to appreciate the things they have by working hard for them.  This is part of the reason I don’t want to be wealthy.  I love my children as much as any parent could possibly love their children but I don’t want them to be brats.  I have had to work hard in life.  This work has given me a new look on life.  I appreciate the things I have along with the people I am surrounded by.  I don’t take things for granted anymore and I want them to have the same attitude.

My attitude towards life is not this way only because of money, but because of the people along with material things I have lost along the way.  There is a book in the Bible called Job.  God allowed Job to lose EVERYTHING.  He lost all his possessions, his children and even his health.  I remember a few years back when I went through some things I lost something that I thought meant the world to me.  So I thought I had lost everything.  That was nothing compared to what I lost from the end of 08 thru all of 09.  I won’t elaborate here because it will take way too long.  But I do understand what it means to lose everything.  I now appreciate EVERYTHING that happens to me whether it is bad or good.

I have now set a goal to achieve financial success in 2010.  I know that no matter what I say or set out to do will only happen if God allows it.  He does give us free will, but free will still falls under his will and I am fully aware and ready to deal with that.  With that said I will say that I am making plans to financially prosper in 2010.  I started putting things in place the end of 2009 to make this happen and I have been working diligently every day to bring my goals into fruition.  I want to be able to do more for my kids and my family.  I want to be able to donate money to the Charities of my choice.  These things keep me motivated.  Yes there are things I want for myself as well, but I have found great pleasure in helping others over this past year and I have the will to do even more.

Don’t get it twisted though….  Like I said there are things I do want for myself and if I am able to do them I will.  Let me share a few of them.  First I am a car fanatic.  I know I can’t possibly own every car I want but there are a couple that will be a must have like the Bently Flying Spur.  Now this is a $150,000 car, so I won’t be seeing one of these until I am making at least $20,000 a month.  But in the mean time I will take a Lexus LS460 and Lexus LX 570.  I want to live in a comfortable location…  Actually a location that is jumpin’ with action… For those familiar with Virginia Beach, I want to live in Towne Center.  I just like that area.  Also I am a diehard football fan.  One of my major goals in life is to go to a NFL game in ever professional stadium in America.  There are 32 teams.  This will take years, but it’s one of my dreams.

I am making it a goal to make my dreams happen.  I know I won’t be able to complete them in 2010, but I surely am putting myself in a position to accomplish some of them this year.  Dreams rarely just come true without effort on your part.  To achieve dreams you must make a plan to achieve them.  The plan has to be realistic.  For instance you can’t dream to make $1,000,000 working a job making $30,000 a year.  There isn’t enough overtime in the world to make that happen.  But if you want to make $1,000,000 then you are going to have to get up off of your but and go and get it.  There are plenty of people making really good money doing different things from gardening, to washing cars to internet marketing.  I have decided to take the internet marketing route.  And after 2 months I have already seen the potential of how much I can possibly make.

Living out your dreams does not have to be impossible.  It’s all about your about you motivation and tenacity.  Everyone will have different things that will motivate them.  What is yours?

How funny is that!?!? The blog I just sent you is along the same line! Basically do what makes you happy, live how you want to live and don’t let anyone tell you different! I fall on the end of having my needs met with a little extra.

I invest in my Havana Red Mill restaurant, even in tougher economic times,to ensure long term success. We didn’t substitute cheaper ingredients, we only use fresh (no cans!) Things like this at first seem like its not being smart with business money but yet in long term it pays off bigger. My family’s well-being and the goal of retirement at a young age keeps me motivated!

Keith, I know it takes a lot to continue doing what makes your customers happy when the economy takes a down turn. The fact that you did just that shows that you care more about your customers. Intergrity is important when it comes to your dreams as well. Thanks for sharing
